Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL), Karachi, is offering apprenticeship training positions under the Sindh Apprenticeship Act 2023 in several technical trades. The program generally spans two years for most trades, including Manufacturing Operative, Boiler Attendant, Electrician General, Millwright, Instrument Mechanic, and Draftsman Civil, while the Fireman apprenticeship extends over three years. Candidates must be under 25 years of age at the time of application. For technical trades, applicants are required to hold a three-year Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in a relevant discipline such as Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Instrumentation from a recognized polytechnic institute. For the Fireman trade, the minimum qualification is Matriculation, preferably with first division, along with a Civil Defense Fireman Course, and in some cases an LTV driving license.

Each trade focuses on developing specific practical skills needed in a refinery environment. Manufacturing Operatives assist in production processes, learning how to operate equipment, monitor systems, and follow safety protocols. Boiler Attendants are trained in handling steam boilers, maintaining proper pressure and temperature, conducting inspections, and ensuring safe operation. Electricians learn to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including motors, panels, and wiring, while following strict safety standards. Millwrights focus on mechanical installation, alignment, and maintenance of heavy machinery, gaining experience with precision tools and preventive maintenance. Instrument Mechanics specialize in calibrating, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial instruments such as pressure gauges, sensors, and control systems to ensure accurate monitoring of refinery processes. Draftsmen Civil develop skills in technical drawing and blueprint preparation for civil and structural works, supporting engineering projects with accurate plans and layouts. Firemen undergo extensive training in fire safety, emergency response, and firefighting techniques, including the maintenance of fire suppression systems and active participation in safety drills to protect refinery operations.
